Birth Certificates

Pretty spotty before 1877, but starting that year, many of them show where the baby's parents were born and the maiden name of the mother.

• Boone County Birth Indexes are at the Belvidere Library, (Ida Public Library), at the LDS Family History Center (North Alpine and Rural in Rockford), and at the Rockford Public Library. They run through 1948.
• Winnebago County Birth Indexes, through 1916, are at the Belvidere Library, the LDS Family History Center, and the Rockford Public Library. It gives dates and full names of parents. Actual records are now available at the Rockford Public Library on microfilm.
